The Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers, with former Nantucket High School standout Riley Williams on the roster, earned a 9-2 win over the Iona Gaels in their NCAA Division I baseball matchup at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 7.
The game was held at E. T. Straw Family Stadium and marked the teams’ second meeting this season. In their earlier contest Friday, March 6, the Mountaineers fell to the Gaels, 3-2.
Williams threw two innings, notching two strikeouts and issuing two walks.
Mount St. Mary’s is set to face the Iona Gaels again at E. T. Straw Family Stadium, with the next game scheduled for Sunday, March 8, at noon.
