Barnstable County Human Rights Advisory Commission to Present Human Rights Awards and to Recognize Health Access and Equity Unsung Heroes
The Barnstable County Human Rights Advisory Commission (BCHRAC) is pleased to announce its Annual International Human Rights Day Awards Celebration. The celebration will be held virtually, on December 14, 2022, from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Cape Media is the media sponsor and will showcase the program on Channel 98.
The BCHRAC will present two human rights awards at the celebration: Matthew Levesque will receive the Rosenthal Community Champion Award and Barbara Burgo will receive the Cornerstone Award. Former Human Rights Coordinator, the late Susan Quinones, will be honored and her family will receive the Tim McCarthy Award on her behalf.
The theme of this year’s celebration is Healthcare is a Human Right: Promoting Quality Healthcare for All and will include a roundtable discussion on healthcare and health equity on Cape Cod. Unsung Health Access and Equity Heroes and Heroines will be celebrated, including Terry Alves-Hunter, G. Leo Blandford, Melanie Braveman & Molly Purdue, Debra Dagwan, Joanne Geake, Paul Hebert, Ron Hoffman, Michael Mecenas, Ayanna Parent, Danny Rodrigues, and Outer Cape Health Services.
