2022 Holiday Lights Recycling Collection

2022 Holiday Lights Recycling Collection

Recycle Old Holiday Lights This Season! Collection Drive running from December to end of January.

Broken lights? Burnt bulbs? Spread holiday cheer by helping the environment this year. Barnstable County’s Cape Cod Cooperative Extension and AmeriCorps Cape Cod are partnering with all 15-Cape towns to recycle your holiday strand lights.

Drop-off your holiday lights for free at your town’s Transfer Station. There will be special designated collection bins, just for the stand lights at each transfer station (don’t put them in the general recycling bin). IF YOU DO NOT have a transfer station sticker, you can still participate by ONLY bringing your holiday strand lights.

Lights will be stripped down and as much material as possible will be recycled.

Most holiday lights can be accepted:

  • rope lights
  • garland lights
  • C7 and C9 bulbs
  • mini lights
  • LED holiday lights.
Lights attached to trees cannot be accepted. Other light fixtures, such as lighted angels, stars, or other lighted items cannot be accepted.
