The ratio of students to teachers in Monomoy Regional School District rose by 1% in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

There were 1,763 students being taught by 167.1 teachers in Monomoy Regional School District, which covers schools within Barnstable County and has a main office in Chatham. That's an average of 10.6 students per teacher in the district during the 2021-22 school year.

In the previous year, Monomoy Regional School District had 1,763 students and 167.5 teachers on staff.

Despite the shortage, under-representation of ethnicities among teachers was found to be a concern. The Rennie Center reported that only nine percent of teachers are people of color.

Massachusetts was ranked as the eighth best state for teachers, according to a WalletHub study.
